The gamble on Barbers Shop in the Hennessy Gold Cup betting at Newbury next Saturday continued on Thursday, with Sky Bet now 7-1 from 16s at the start of the week.
He has more than halved in price since Nicky Henderson revealed his charge would sidestep a level weights clash with Kauto Star at Haydock on Saturday in the Betfair Chase to wait for the Newbury showpiece.
Matt Doyle, Sky Bet’s horse racing betting spokesman, said: ‘The decision to wait for the Hennessy was too good to resist off such a nice racing weight if Denman stands his ground and punters have been quick to sit up and take notice.’
The weights are currently headed by the 2007 Hennessy winner Denman, who is a 5/1 favourite with Sky Bet to win the Grade 1 contest for the second time in three years.
