Sky Bet have been left puzzled by a gamble on Harry Redknapp in their first Premier League manager to leave his post betting.
Money started to come in on Redknapp being the first casualty of the top flight sack race last night and the Harrogate-based bookmaker cut his odds of being first out to 25/1 (from 66/1).
Money has continued to come today and Redknapp has now been backed down to 11/8 favourite to be first to leave his position, with under pressure managers Phil Brown and Paul Hart now joint 3/1 second favourites.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman Mike Triffitt said: “Tottenham have got off to a flyer this season so the gamble on Redknapp to leave the club is mystifying. Usually, there is no smoke without fire in these markets, although we did see a similar gamble recently on Benitez, which came to nothing.
“However, today punters are taking any price we put up on Harry to be first out, which suggests there may be some truth in the rumour.”
