Wigan manager Roberto Martinez thinks Chris Kirkland will be part of England’s World Cup squad and Sky Bet are offering 6/1 for the Wigan keeper to make the trip out to South Africa.
Kirkland, who has one England cap to his name, is 25/1 to start for England against the USA.
David James is Sky Bet’s 10/11 favourite to start in goal for England with Birmingham keeper Joe Hart 5/2 and West Ham’s Robert Green 3/1 (12/1 Ben Foster & 20/1 Paul Robinson).
Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman Tim Reynolds said: “Kirkland has missed a lot of chances to prove his credentials due to an on-going back problem and it would be a big surprise to see him taken out to South Africa over the likes of James, Hart or Green.”
